Overtime

When business conditions require, employees may be needed to work overtime. When this occurs, employees’ supervisors will make every effort to provide timely advance notice as practical. Such a need for overtime, when called for, is considered mandatory and employees are expected to fulfill overtime as required. For non-exempt employees, the employee’s supervisor must approve all overtime prior to an employee working the overtime. Non-exempt employees must report all time actually worked, whether or not overtime is pre-approved.

Overtime compensation is paid to all non-exempt employees in accordance with federal and state overtime requirements. All non-exempt employees will be paid one and one half times their regular rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in one workweek. Hours for which an employee is paid but for which he or she does not actually work (such as vacation time, holidays, sick leave, any leave of absence, etc.) are not counted as hours worked for computing overtime payments. Exempt employees are not eligible to be paid overtime.

Gusto Payroll System & Accuracy

It is our policy and practice to accurately compensate employees and to do so in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws. To ensure that you are paid properly for all time worked and that no improper deductions are made, you must record correctly all work time and review your paychecks promptly to identify and to report all errors.

Gusto
We use Gusto as our online payroll system. You should already have an account with Gusto from completing your onboarding documents, but if you need help accessing or navigating the system, let your supervisor know right away.

Review Your Pay Stub
We make every effort to ensure our employees are paid correctly. Occasionally, however, inadvertent mistakes can happen. When mistakes do happen and are called to our attention, we will promptly make any corrections necessary. Please review your pay stub when you receive it to make sure it is correct. If you believe a mistake has occurred or if you have any questions, please let your supervisor know right away.

Non-exempt Employees
If you are classified as a non-exempt employee, you must maintain a record of the total hours you work each day. You will do this in our online payroll system, Gusto. Your time card must accurately reflect all regular and overtime hours worked, any absences, late arrivals, early departures and meal breaks. Employees are prohibited from performing any "off-the-clock" work. "Off-the-clock" work means work you may perform but fail to report on your time card. Any employee who fails to report or inaccurately reports any hours worked will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including discharge. Seriously--make sure you get paid for the awesome work you do!

To Report Concerns or Obtain More Information
If you have questions about deductions from your pay, you believe you have been subject to any improper deductions, or your pay does not accurately reflect your hours worked, you should immediately report the matter to your supervisor. If the supervisor is unavailable or if you believe it would be inappropriate to contact that person (or if you have not received a prompt and fully acceptable reply), you should immediately contact the Chief of Staff or CEO.
