The Free Period Pantry – a  Period Power Program

In June 2026, Diaper Bank of North Carolina launched its first free Period Pantry, located in Durham!

A Period Pantry is stocked with free pads, tampons and other menstrual hygiene products for anyone who needs them. No forms, no appointments, no barriers. It's located alongside other trusted neighborhood resources for free food and support, so families can access what they need in one place.

How it works

The Diaper Bank of North Carolina supplies the period products, and dedicated volunteers help keep the pantry stocked, tidy and ready for the community!

1 in 4 Teens and 1 in 3 Menstruating Adults experience period poverty in North Carolina. 

Period poverty is the lack of access to menstrual products due to cost, availability, or stigma and it affects people across our community every day. Without reliable access, people may miss school, work, or community activities, or turn to unsafe alternatives. The Period Pantry offers a simple, direct way to help close that gap.
